Should i run my tank dry to get the junk out? 200

I've been toying with an idea for a while...thought i'd post it to see what you guys think. I have been thinking of running my tank dry....then filling it up with more gas...running it some more..until the fuel filter is good and plugged...adn then changing the fuel filter. This theoretically should get all the junk that's been floating in the bottom of my tank 20 some years out.

Now i've never actually done this out of fear that it would jack up the car by allowing junk to go past the fuel filter due to pressure or simply the volume of stuff. Or worse yet damage my fuel pump.

But i do wonder what sort of junk is in my fuel tank:)

Another solution might be to engage the fuel pump...disconnect a hose somewhere and simply allow the stuff to run out into a pan or something.

I doubt i'd ever actually do any of this stuff...but it is interesting to think about in theory :)
