Bearings in P/S pump going out? 200

On my wife's '85 240 wagon, I just put a new P/S belt on for the first time in about a year (it's a long story) so it's the first time in about a year that the P/S pump and A/C pump have been moving. Well is sounds like a bunch of metal being grinded in there somewhere and I'm just wondering if the bearing are bad or if I have the belt too tight? The belt really isn't that tight, but it could be loosened a little and still not slip. What do you guys/girls think? THanks.
