CD options on 1990 760 Wagon(sorry for the long post) 700 1990

I just went through this. This is what I did, if you don't mind the story. I wanted the cd changer option(non-rf mod). I had poor aftermarket tape deck in my brick. So, I got a factory deck and amplifier from the junkyard (>$30). Added two rear shelf speakers ($60). Bought an alpine cd changer cdm-s620 per the 700/900 faq. well, turns out the factory deck I got was only compatible with the factory changer. I had the 13 pin din plug. NOTE: there are no adapters for pre '94 models (at least from my research).
So, since I had bought a cd changer already I went ahead and order a new cd reciever from crutchfield. My new reciever has the cd controls and it's compatable.
Oh, you won't need to worry about that factory amp...just about any reciever you buy now has a built in amp that is just as powerfull if not more than your factory. I believe they put 20, 25, and 40 watt amps in as factory. They aftermarket system will sound better regardless, because you'll be getting a cleaner signal from your reciever.
I went factory and it sounded pretty good, but aftermarket sounds much better (and I found you can still stay within a budget...total I'm out under $200..and it sounds great)

Good luck...

Matt

p.s.-sorry for the long post
