Question on Strut Replacement 200

Been prepping for strut replacement for tomorrow AM by reading Bentley, Haynes, 700/900 FAQ, and darmstrongs “Strut replacement for novices” post, and checking all my parts.

Small questions: 1) the 700/900 FAQ talks about ensuring the strut mount bearing is yellow side up for reinstallation. Is this an issue on the 240? I’ve got new FCP Groton strut mounts ready; bearing is secured in the plate; it doesn’t look like it can be reversed.

2) In the IPD combo pack of four Boge Turbo Gas shocks, the strut gland nut is just a fine-threaded sleeve spot-welded in three places to the donut-shaped plate to go over the strut piston. It has only two cutouts for a wrench (unlike the four seen in Art Benstein’s photos in the “Novices” post). Seems kind of light-weight construction. Plus, a couple threads are bunged-up from a solid nick. The FAQ talks about thoroughly cleaning the gland nut threads in the strut tower. Any concerns here?

Thanks
