Check Engine Light 900 1995

Few days ago I turned Ignition and the arrow light started to blink and the lights on W S E buttons started to go back and forwards. A days later the lights went off, but the next day the check engine light came on we run the OBD and came up with 1-1-2 code Replace ECU. Is this common? Dose this going to case problems? And if so is there any place that ECU can be serviced (it runs about $850.00 from the dealer). Any suggestions would be appreciated.
