Engine Removal.....A/C Compressor.... 200 1983

I have decided that this summer I need to do some repairs to the engine in my 83 245. I need to replace the clutch, oil seals, pan gasket, etc. I figured it would be a lot easier to just yank the engine out of the car and do it with the engine out. But then I got to thinking about the A/C components. The A/C in this car still works (cold as ice) and I would like to keep it that way. But I realize that if I disconnect the compressor, it will be done for, and I certainly cannot afford to have it recharged.

My question is, is it possible to remove the compressor from the engine without disconnecting the hoses and still have enough room to remove the engine?

If anyone could help me with this, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks a lot.
