Carpet removal 700 1989

So I'm trying to track down the source of the funk. Something gave up the ghost in my car recently. It sure smells like it's coming from where I had a bottle of distilled water in the car (right in front of the rear passenger's side seat). The carpet was a bit damp by the transmission tunnel, but not horribly wet.

I doused most of the carpeting with Lysol in hopes that the alcohol would speed in the evaporation of any water. I've gone through the interior and did not find any decomposing critters or food. I guess it's time to pull up the carpeting.

Question is: does the rocker panel trim just pull off? Are there hidden screws anywhere I should worry about? Not only do the interior bits of this car feel a lot more delicate than the bits in my 240s, but I know I'll have a hard time replacing any fabric covereed bits I break.

I checked under the front seats, under the cargo floor, in the two wheel well pockets, in the door pockets, front footwells. The funk is not coming from the vents, nor from under the car (as far as I can tell). What else could the funk be hiding?
