biodegrade wiring harness, what are the symptoms? 200 1984

my car will not start, no power at all, turn the key, nothing, its been like this for a couple months. it was sitting then was subjected to extreme cold, then it warmed back up and now it wont start. ive heard that it could be my battery (relatively new from autozone) which i have been told could have frozen, turning it into a resistor and making a jump impossible. Ive tried to jump it 3 times and it never works, i need to figure this out, would a bad wiring harness completely quit like this?
the car is an 84 245ti
