1980 240 transmission issues 200

For several years my M46 transmission has been releasing (extreme clutch slippage?) under heavy acceleration or hard shifting in the first 3 gears. As this problem has been getting worse, I recently drained and refilled the transmission with Redline Manual Transmission lubricant (ATF style, but not Redline MTL as is suggested on this page). Immediately after chaging the fluid, the slippage problem became so bad that I can't even give the engine 1/2 throttle while in gear without the engine reving up to redline. Backing off the throttle quickly usually allows the transmission to hook back up. After consulting this forum, I decided that the clutch was finally gone. After replacing it, I still have the same problem.

Any suggestions on this matter would be greatly appreciated. Am I looking at transmission failure, overdrive issues, or simply wrong fluid or a misadjusted clutch?

Sean
