New Front Rotors, Now a shudder when turning slowly 900 1992

I just had new front rotors and pads front and back installed by my trusted independent Volvo mechanic on my 1992 960 with 103K miles. Now when I turn the steering wheel slowly, for example when coming out of my driveway, the steering wheel shudders. I used to get this rarely, but since I picked up the car this afternoon, it shudders on all slow turns. It does not shudder when braking r at faster speeds, just slow turning. I'm going to call my mechanic about it tomorrow but any info or suggestions would be helpful.

Also, how do you check the transmission fluid? I see the cap and the dip stick on it, but the fluid is so dark, I can't tell where it reads on the dip stick.
