Hi everyone - I have a 740 Auto GLE Turbo B230FT engine. Coming home recently engine coughed going downhill throttle off. Car travelled a further 2 kilometres before engine quit and would not restart. About two hours later engine started but quit again after about 10 metres (30ft) of travel. Started again and travelled 4 kilometres before again quitting. Started after 5 minutes and travelled about 1/2 a K before stopping again. This time it would not start so I pushed it into a motel carpark and left it there until I could arrange to get it home. Once home could not produce spark at plugs or coil. Coil tested Ok for resistance both secondary and primary and had battery voltage at both terminals ignition on. Pulled every connection I could find including the ECU & ICU connectors and sprayed with WD40. I have spark at coil when ignition is turned to on position but no spark from coil or plugs when cranking. Fuel pump operates for about a second when ignition is turned to start position. Tested crankshaft sensor for resistance - nothing registered nor was their any continuity between any of the 3 lugs. Tested other side of connector for voltage with ignition on and got 3.6 volts DC between centre lug and chassis. 0.25 volts between each outer lug and chassis. I don't know how to test the power amplifier module behind the battery. My car has both an ECU and an ICU. All help would be greatly appreciated as I live in the boonies and am stranded without my car. Q. Should there be resistance registering in the Crankshaft sensor? Is there a test I can do on the Power Module? I have a digital multimeter only.
