Not just Volvos, All cars manufacturers are designing OUT 'Owner Maintainablilty. They are designing in More Shop time to standard maintenance jobs. Plugs; 30 minutes on 'old cars' now...what?, 3 hours.
Oil change; on new cars, remove belly Pan to get to filter. silly.

Transverse engines. Now you can't get to anything easily.
Make the User maintenance obselete and bang them heavy when they bring it in for service. More then just the changing times if you ask me.
