HELP can't get water pump bypass tube to stop leaking 200

I just spent two days replacing the water pump and I can't get water pump bypass tube to stop leaking. I am not taking the pump back off. Is there a way to remove the tube from the back? Can it be cut and patched with hose, or will it melt from the exhaust heat. My last resort will be to epoxy the whole thing, which means the pump will never be able to be removed after I do this.
I took it to a shop and they want $150 to fix it. Thats about half o what I paid for the whole car. I've got a budget of about $50 to fix it, and I already spent that on replacing the pump myself.
Ben
