valve noise update #2 200 1977

Greetings all-

For those of you keeping score at home, here is my last update:

http://www.brickboard.com/RWD/index.htm?id=787331

It was referring to this noise:

http://www.geocities.com/aanippl/volvoknock.wav

In the last update, I was asked to check the tolerance of the buckets/springs and do a compression check. I will do the tolerance test tomorrow, but here are my compression numbers:

#1= 155
#2= 158
#3= 163
#4= 169

The loud valve noise is coming from #3 valve area. Also, the oil was 1/2 quart low, so as an experient, I added the 1/2 quart while the engine was running. I wanted to see if the valve noise changed while the oil was being poured in. It did not.

Thanks-

Joe HC
