Transmission front pump seal. 200

It is a piece of cake, you pull it out, stuff the new one on your trusty Volvo special tool and hammer it home. But seriously, it is not that bad and I am sure could be done without the tool. I would replace the front pump seals while you are there though. Pull the converter out of the way, shoot the bolts out that hold the bell housing to the case (not the front pump bolts)and then smack the bell housing with a big rubber mallet and work it the rest of the way off. Now with the bell housing out of the way you can get to the input shaft seal a little easier. Two things when putting the Orings in that seal the pump; 1. do not stretch the O rings in the least, slide those suckers over the front pump and into postion, stretching them out will give you problems when you try to put the bell housing on. 2. Buy some hydraulic assembly lube or some Sil-glide, you will need something that is both thin and slippery but won't eat your Orings away. Put this on the Orings and liberally on the surface of the pump where the housing slides back on. The housing can be tricky to re-install, one trick I use is a 2x4 across the front of it. Becasue it is so wide you cannot hit it evenly to get it to jump over that first Oring, put a 2x4 across it and smack the sucker and you can start it evenly. If you have the touch you can get the housing to slide right back down once it is over the first seal. Use only Volvo seals and make sure you get the shift shaft seals replace while you are in there. Good luck
