Ok all. I did motor mounts on a 240 yesterday. No hang ups except for a nut attaching the passenger mount to the bracket needed to be cut off (used my handy dremel), I just couldn't get it off without stripping it and did not have my craftsman stripped nut driver on hand. TIP #1 What I should have done is loosen the lower mount nut BEFORE I took it out of the engine still in the bracket. I did this on the passenger side and everything was ok.
Anyway, I used the instructions Dave Shannon has on his website:

Very nice to read and plenty of pics. Here is what I did differently that sped up my procedure (not including that nut that had to be cut off, I did it in just under 2 hours).
Driver side mount is easy to do, passenger side mount is where these tips apply.
TIP #2 You don't need a 12mm box end racheting wrench, or need to pull off the alternator to get to the lower nut, just pop off the 2 front sway bar brackets and there is room to get a 12mm line wrench in there and loosen up the nut. Remember it doesn't come out all the way due to the closeness of the mount.
TIP #3 Next, I did not need to take off the oil filter, Use a u-joint attachement with some extension and a shorty 12mm socket and you can take off the nut just below the oil filter. Remove the back nut last as to avoid your hand being squashed in case you jack gives out when hand loosening the other 2 nuts.
That is it, easy job and makes a big difference in how your engine feels.
