temp sensor wire 200

While changing the oil filter on my ’91 245, I notice a loose thin black wire near the alternator/temp sensor. I think it goes to the temp sensor – because right now the temp sensor does not have a wire attached! The wire does not have a connector, so how do I reattach the wire to the sensor? Also, could this be the reason for the “service engine” light comes on for a few seconds after a start the car, this happens only in warm – hot weather.

As always thanks for the help!
