white smoke, valve noise and un-even compression 200

My 87 240DL kicked out quite a bit of white smoke and some awful noise while doing so. The temp was normal and it stopped after I pulled over and sat for a minute. It only happend while the engine was being revved never at idle. I didn't see any water in the oil and it's still got me another mile or so to work. The copression from font to back was 120 60 150 150. I think it's time for a valve job. Any other ideas?
