Speedometer / Odometer Failure 900 1992

Any suggestions anyone has about this are welcome! My speedometer has been acting erratic -- bouncing up and down and sometimes quitting altogether. When it acts up, the odometer does as well. After reading the FAQs regarding this on the site, I replaced the sensor in the differential. The speedo acted the exact same. So I verified the connections and even ran known good wires from the sensor to the back of the instrument cluster -- speedo acted the same. I also tested the power and ground at the back of the cluster. My thoughts now are that the speedo itself is bad. Anyone have any other suggestions? Thanks.
