is jumping fuses 4/6 bad for the car? 200

I was always wondering...if i ever had to jumper the 4/6?? the intank and main fuel pump?? fuses because my relay failed.....and i had to drive a distance...woudl that harm the pumps?

And how woudl i go about jumping the fuses...simply wire a piece of metal anywhere on the fuse contacts?

I suppose there is some sort of purpose to this relay being there so jumpering the fuses can't be all that good?
