Volvo Problem! 200 1976

"when i put a gear in and released the clutch the engine turned without any bigger problems, but it didn't start."
I think push starting bypasses the starter, so it may not be a starter problem. Rather it may be an ignition circuit/power delivery problem.

Since the starter is clicking, maybe you aren't getting enough juice to it to get it to turn over. Check that the thick positive red cables (as well as the battery and ground connections to block) are firm.

Assuming that voltages to the starter are fine, you can check to see if the starter is okay by shorting the post with the wire from the batt and the post with the yel wire with a screwdriver (or remote starter switch).
