Resetting mileage on 240 odometer

I originally thought it was the gear, but upon closer inspection it was fine. All I can guess is it was the motor - I'm open for suggestions on how to test it.

ANyway it works now with my gear and the used head.
The problem was obviously in the speedometer head somewhere so it would do little good to put my speedometer in the used cluster.
