Yes, I had set it to 0. I just went out and set it to 10 (what does BTDC stand for?), as you suggest, and it does seem to run better. So I take it that the marks are up to 10 degrees retarded timing and up to 30 degrees advanced?

Also, I have been running on premium gas, which is about 90 cents per litre now. Incredibly expensive. I switched to it because of all the fuel problems I had been having last year. But is it still advisable to keep on it in general, or is it a sort of 'try regular and see if she still runs ok' sort of thing?
