Service light won't quit! 200 1991

That annoying little "Service" warning light has come on, and I can't kill it. Yes, I do know how (this is my fifth Volvo, so I have wrestled all configuations of those things over the past twenty years!); it just won't go off. The reset button is on the front of the dash. You think some of the linkage to the reset mechanism has come loose, or what? Unless someone has a better idea, guess I'll just do dash surgery and check it. If all else fails, I'll just toss the bulb and that will be the end of it. Does anyone know of a better solution?

Thanks.
