Are you talking about the small post to align your wheels to the hub? If so it's my understanding that it's there so you can put the wheel back on and not have to rebalance the tire. If you are putting new wheels and tires on anyway than its a dead issue.

Why not just Dremel them off if they're stuck. You could mark the tires with a permanent marker and do the same thing if you need to remove them for brake or suspension work.
