rear wiper splines stripped 700 1989

In a fit of something I decided to remove my rear wiper to paint it as it was rusty- The nut was really stuck and then I discovered that the wiper arm had no splines left on it, the DPO had used teflon tape to provide some friction of sorts. Is there an easy fix to this ? the local wrecker wanted $55.00 for an arm and it didn't look much better than mine.
