Freeze-12 -- R12 Replacement in 84 245 200 1984

Hello-

I have an 84 245 that needs some engine work. I have considered removing the engine to replace oil seals and the clutch, on top of replacing the cylinder head.

My question concerns the A/C system. The A/C does still work in this car and I kind of hate to get the system discharged and have no A/C anymore. But I stumbled across Freeze-12. According to the source, this refrigerant can be added and is compatable with the old R12 system. Does anyone else know of this stuff? If so, the price seems good enough for me to just go ahead and have the system discharged so I can remove the compressor easily, and recharge when I am done. It seems a lot better than retrofitting with R134a, in my opinion.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks to all.

-Vince
