Steering Box Replacement Advise Please.... 1800 1971

I haven't driven many 1800s, but I've owned a 71E since 1998 and an 72E since 1999. The 71E steers harder than the the 72E. Ball joints have been replaced while I've owned the 71E. Never had a reason to worry about the 72E. Steering gear box was dry when I picked up the 71E. Not a problem with the 72E. I made a point to find the original 165/15 tires for the 71E. The 72E came with good tread on 185/70/15 tires.
As things turn out, the engine is bad in the 72E and I'm using it as a donor for the restoration of the 71E. Have also mounted 195/60R/15 on the 71E and am driving it a couple times a week. Haven't noticed much difference. Should I swap steering gear boxes? I searched the archives and got a bit of insight, but nothing exactly like my situation....
