Brake fluid being incompressable(even the cheap stuff, but not DOT5), the total system volume is constant, that is, if you displace 10cc in the master cylinder, 10cc goes into the slave.
Travel=volume/area of cylinder; 10cm^3 in a 50cm^2 cylinder=.2cm travel.
If the cylinders are equal area, the travel will be the same for both.
Don't forget thet pressure=force X area, so a lareger master(to get more travel out of the slave) will increase the force your foot has to put on the pedal to get the same force at the slave pushrod.
A proportioning valve will only limit the pressure; it has no effect on travel.
