960 Better gas mileage Sacrifice performance? 900

HI, being fairly new on the board, I am so thankful to all for the information here regarding the 960 and what to look out for. (Invaluable!!)

Please correct me if I’m imagining this, but I noticed the gas mileage to be better when the accelerator cable is loose. (slack)
I am curious as how to best set the tension on the accelerator cable, I know the idle is a electronic constant so how tight should it be?
I like to have it tight but with soaring gas prices and my heavy foot (No fix) I might have to sacrifice performance instead of a lower octane fuel.

Mine is fast approaching 200k and does around 15mpg.

Has anyone else messed around with this, or is too trivial to talk about?

Any thoughts, much appreciated.

Thanks.
Best wishes
