I have been slowly diagnosing a problem with my '85 760T unsuccessfully, but today finally found a coorelation but don't know what it means.
The car will start and run for about 10-15 mins, then start to sputter and die. The car will not start again until another 15 mins or so have passed.
Today I removed the fuel line from the rail to see if fuel was flowing at an adequate rate (do not have a pressure guage setup)upon undoing the fuel rail nut I was expecting high pressure fuel to spray everywhere...it didn't, just a faint hiss of a little pressure - no spray. When I removed the fuel line from the rail and started the car the engine would actually start and run fine until ofcourse it ran out of the gas in the rail.
When I reconnect the line the car dies and give the sputtering symptoms. When I disconnect it it starts fine again!
What could cause this? Is there too much pressure in the line? Is there a lack of pressure in the line {shouldn't the check valve maintain a high pressure environment in the hose and spray when the fuel line is disconnected?
Some things I have done so far:
1. Replaced fuel pressure regulator
2. Replaced 02 Sensor
3. Tested coil with replacment coil (no positive change)
4. Fuel relay works fine - both relays click and run.
5. Fuel pumps both run - no strange noises when activated
6. Wiring harness repaired - detriorating areas spliced and taped
7. fuses checked and cleaned
8. Throttle body cleaned
9. Injectors are all clicking and seem to be running fine
