New to Me volvo what do I need to do - check engine light 200 1989

I just adopted my first Volvo - a 1989 240 volvo sedan with just over 170k on it.
It was checked over before purchase and got a clean bill of health. It also passed inspection with flying colors. Now the check engine light and the service lights are on. I plan to get the oil changed but what else do I need to get checked out? Several of the mechanics I've asked say they don't have the proper computer to check my system those that do say they want $65-$91 to hook it up. Is this standard ?

Thanks
