To Convert or not to Convert A/C that is the question. 200 1992

The dealer recharged my system about 18 months ago and now it recycles every few seconds. It still blows cool but I figure it is going to burn something out. Will the conversion be successful or will I end up needing something major in addition? I am hoping replacing some seals during the conversion will correct the frequent recycling problem.

The dealer estimates $84 for the kit and $270 for the labor. I would gladly pay it (at least on a hot day) but don't want to see the $ escalate once they get into it. Suggestions?
