78 Fuel Pump 200

I almost didn't make it to work this morning, think I have pressed my luck with the main pump long enough. Tank pump checked out good and new filter, main pump has been very noisy for some time. I'm balking a buying a $300 plus pump, I have a couple later years pumps sitting around, can I make one of these work with fittings and adapters or does the pump have other differences. Also, does anyone have any experience with a Carter rebuilt pump for the same, can get one of those for about half price of a new one.

Thanks
