AC conversion help 700

1. An AC tech can pump off the old freon no problem.

2. You can use the old hoses, although R134a will permeate through the hose walls faster than R12, so you may have to top off each year with a can or part of a can of R134a, but this is an easy DIY job.

3. Here in Houston, an evac and recharge with R134a is only about $75.00. Not worth the trouble of doing it yourself, unless you are equipped and just want to do it for fun.
