A/C Clutch, part II 700

I have a problem with the A/C system not cooling at speed. My suspicions were the A/C clutch was disengaging at speed, and this evening I found out the clutch is indeed doing just that.

Somewhere I read the problem might be the low pressure switch, so I jumped the connection, but the clutch still cuts out.

What controls the clutch? Is there a switch or relay somewhere that makes this happen? Is the clutch shot? Is a replacement clutch available, or am I better off just buying a new compressor, and how will I know that's the problem?

Any thoughts you could share are greatly appreciated.

Kurt
