No brake lights and other electrical issues '90 245 200 1990

I am working on a friends 240 wagon and I can't get the brake lights to work.I have checked the fuse, the bulbs, the switch and the socket connections. If the third light wiring thru the tailgate is cut would that kill all the brake lights? The car has elecrical isues,no brake lights,no rear wiper,no central locks.
I know why the rear wiper isn't functioning(wiring thru hinge is broke.)Does the central lock need all wiring intact for the door locks to work? Because the tailgate wires for that are broken as well.
I am usually good at figuring out things like this...
