One more thing, if anyone has some advice.
The biggest issue I have with my car (1977 Bosch Kjet) , it's not easy to start cold, and seems unusually gutless until the temp needle rises up a bit. It needs to be revved quite hard on startup, and I need to hold it above 2500 RPM for about 10 seconds, otherwise it will splutter and die. Until the car has had a little warmup time, the throttle response is minimal. It does feel like the mixture is too lean, but I'm hardly an expert.
Once it does warm up it accelerates happily enough, although the idle does seem creep up by about 200RPM, so when fully warmed up I have a 1100-1300 RPM idle. I can live with that, although It probably wastes a bit of fuel.
I'm inclined to think the spluttering on startup is too little fuel, or too much air (like a vac leak). It doesn't sound like it's choking. Is this as simple as finding something leaking, or should I be looking at more complicated solutions?
My main fuel pump doesn't sound happy when going along, and I'm not sure my intank pump works at all (doesn't like going up hills on anything less than half a tank). Also, when I turn the key to run, I don't here that bzzzzt sound anymore.
Please help make my old brick a little more fun to drive on startup. It's bad enough that it takes 10 goes to engage the starter, but when it splutters and dies when I finally kick it over, it gets a little frustrating.
On the plus side, it's driving very nicely with brand new Bridgestone 195's upfront, a really nice car once I get it rolling. New suspension bushings would be even nicer.
