RIMS and TIRES for my 240 200 1990

so I'm a poor highschool student, and I know nothing about wheels. I picked up my second 240 a couple months ago- and I'm looking to throw a bit more style onto my car- currently I have the stock steel rims with the classic volvo hubcap. I received, when I bought my previous volvo, the silver 5 (?) spoke alloy rims, but I think they're only about a half inch larger than the rims I have on right now.I talked to a dealer- and its going to be expensive to put tire on them, so I wanted to check out my options. Anyway- I would like to have something larger (and wider) to fill up the gaping hole around my tires (17" maybe? any suggestions?) and I was wondering if anyone has any experience with this, and knows how I could get a really cheap set. maybe a set of stock wheels off a newer car? I don't know what would work- I don't know anything about sizes. I'm not looking for 26 inch rims with spinners- just something that looks a bit more sporty- also, I live in Alaska- so I don't really want to have to lose too much clearance, but am I going to have to drop it an inch or two to get rid of the extra space? thanks for your help
