car wont start - diagnosis help 200

hi,

my car simply didnt start this morning. no signs of stalling or anything before. i dont hear the main fuel pump whirring, so probably there is the problem as the starter goes on fine and there is spark. can anybody quickly send me in what order is the best to check things? I may forget a thing here and there. The intank pump MAY be dead, but it should not affect things as the tank is almost full.

Sorry for the dummy question. I will keep Googling but it is really urgent now, as in 10 hours i have to be 300 miles form here. And im in the middle of nowhere, truly.
