Removing door panel -- tough 700

My passenger-side rear door will not open from either the outside nor the inside. It's not the lock mechanism, but the door release mechanism itself. It's difficult to remove the door panel with the door shut, and, obviously, if I could open the door to get more clearance and room to work on the door panel the problem would not exist (smile). What I need most is more working room, and I don't have the smallest hands in the world. How difficult is it to remove the seat on that side? Any special tools? And once I get the door panel off, what should I be looking for inside the door frame?

BTW, I replaced the engine wiring harness in about 4 hours this past Saturday. It completely resolved the oil light flickering and, interestingly enough, the antenna retracts and opens like it should. Kudos to Dave Barton for the deal I got from him to make that part possible. Hey Dave, got any magic door openers in your stockpiles?
