intermittent start 1800

You might want to check the positive connection at the starter. My 544 was exibiting similar symptoms (after extended high speed drives sometimes there would be no response at all from the starter). Current was available at the cable when the key was turned to start position and the car could be roll started in gear.

After cleaning the positive terminal and cable end the starter has been reliable -- knock wood.
