Wet tranny 120-130

Before I realized that the shift rod input for my M40 was direct into the guts of the box, I left the thing out (all winter) where it could get rather damp. Once I clued in I dumped the water and sludge out and rinsed three times with diesel fuel (no shaft spinning) then left it up-side down to dry out in the sun. It seems to turn quiet but heavy and I can see some surface rust on the selector forks (right on top).
Question is, do the assembleage believe that the fluid (whatever that nasty gunk was) in the box was "clingy" enough to prevent water from damaging the bearings or do I need to tear the pup down?
Tearing it apart does not frighten me (dead easy box without nasty springy/$500 tool tricks) but I would rather use my time in trying to get the suspension torn down for new bushes.
So, inspection cover off, any danger signs to look for?

Mike!
