Trailer towing 200

I have a '91 240 wagon with 120K miles. It's a 5-speed and in pretty good shape. I'm getting a tow hitch put on so I can pull a utility trailer once in awhile to carry stuff like bark dust and hay to some property we have out of town. So I'm also thinking about a tent trailer. Some of the people I talk to say no problem pulling a tent trailer, others say it could be a burden on the engine. I do know I have to shift down to 4th gear when going up a moderate hill with the car pretty empty, so towing a trailer of the Cascade range might really slow it down.

What's your opinion?
