AW70 Tailshaft Bushing FYI FAQ. 200

I did the tailshaft bushing job a couple days ago and have a tip to add to the FAQ or to whoever is going to do the job themselves. First, if the seal has been leaking too, your clothes are going to get trashed, its so messy under there.

As far as getting the new bushing in, I have read to press it in with the old one, however I nearly ruined the old one getting it out so what I did was took my small rubber mallet, it just fit into the tailshaft housing area nicely, placed it over the new bushing in place and pounded on the mallet with a large hammer, it was basically a soft press to press the new bushing in, took me about 1 min. You need to still use the old bushing to get the new one in the rest of the way, only about 1mm more, but the mallet trick got it in there straight and fast.

I suppose you could use a piece of wood, but the mallet sits in there further so it made more sense to me.

Besides that, it really is an easy job, just very messy like i said.
