I ordered a set of genuine Volvo tail lenses for my 87 240 DL from FCP Groton. After hearing so many horror stories about the poor quality of the aftermarket lenses I decided to spend a little more and get better quality. I got the lenses in and opened the box to find that the corner red lense was already separated from the housing. They looked really cheap in quality and the glue was coming out from all of the seams between the lenses. I thought wow I would hate to see the aftermarket ones. I called FCP and told them I had a defective lense. They had a hard time believing that a Genuine lense would be broken already. They were going to send out a replacement one and that completed my call .
A few minutes later I received a call back from them. They still couldn’t believe that a genuine tail light would be broken. We went over the box it came in and the markings on the lenses. We discovered they had sent the aftermarket ones and not the genuine ones even after charging me for the genuine tail lights. They scheduled a UPS pick up for the wrong ones they sent me and sent out the genuine ones. After receiving the genuine ones the quality difference is amazing. You can tell the difference just by looking at them. I would definitely say that it is worth the $28.40 more a piece to get the genuine ones. I am glad that one was already broken or I would have probably accepted the aftermarket ones as genuine and just thought that they were poor quality. The genuine ones came in a Volvo box. So if anyone is unsure they should go for the aftermarket vs. the genuine I hope this helps you out.
