Odd leak behavior - saw it - not anymore 700 1992

I have my stepson getting me a bottom rad hose from Groton with his order - but this is really odd.

On the rack this AM saw that there was a small leak in the lower rad hose - up close to the pump. Drove it on - would just be very careful.

Went about 50 miles or so - got back to the house - temp needle never moved from straight up - but smelled coolant - opened hood - had a pinprick stream going back toward the turbo. Opened the cap slow and let her be.

Came back out later - resevoir still ok - put cap on - had to go about 1/2 mile - did that - came back - checked it - seemed to have sealed itself off. How is this possible?
