crankshaft timing gear 444-544

I am trying to get my Duett back together for some springtime driving! I plan to replace the camshaft before re-installing my rebuilt head (B-18 engine). This engine is not highly modified; I simply went up to a 'C cam' and dual SU's.

Here's my question - I will obviously replace the cam shaft timing gear (with an original (new) fiber gear). Do I also need to replace the gear on the crankshaft? I have a new one - they came in a set - but I am not enthusiastic about trying to get the 'hub' off the crankshaft (don't have the special Volvo tools) and encountering potential other problems with technique. The engine is NOT out of the car.

Any feedback/acvice, as always, sincerely appreciated.
