brake lines 200 1989

Hi ALL,

I am a bit embarassed to ask such a question... I always feel like a know EVERYTHING and then I find out there are entire topics I know little of... anyhow.

I changed the rear calipers on the 89 240 today, along with new discs and new pads. I rebuilt them with new seals and clean pistons and new bleeder screws...
Anyhow, question is -

Can I re-use the existing brake lines that connect to the calipers?

To be honest, all looked original and I expected to have a hard time undoing the lines - well I did. So hard that the 11mm key just kept eating away at the screw (it looks like a soft brass). I had to go in there with VISE-GRIPS (I hat that) to get them out. Anyway not having spare lines I tried to re-use them, they went on tight and no leaks, brakes are great. The ends of the lines went from 11mm to "vise grip" fit.

Any risks? SHOULD I have put in new lines? Is it a matter of finding replacement lines and molding them to shape to fit? How long are they for the rear, and what is the size of the thread at the ends?
