Stinky Temperature Gauge 200

Darn gauge is sticky (stinky was just to get your attention). Took apart the connections at the temp comp board, and cleaned things up, figuring that was it. No go. If I tap on the instrument panel, I can get the needle to move and once It begins to move, it registers properly. Is there any way to lube the needle, or should I use the temp comp board bypass, purchase a new gauge, or what? Banging on the instrument panel half the time is no way to treat a Brick!
